Jared Bullock, flexing after a work out. This photo went Viral even started a t-shirt campaign

Jared Bullock is from Illinois but resides in the sunshine state of Florida now. This could have something to do with why he always seems to have a smile on his face. Jared and his twin brother were inspired to enlist in college. Like so many during the war on terror, the college scene did not fit and there was an itch to serve the country, an itch that he and his brother were ready to scratch.

His career lasted twelve years, he was an 11B (infantry), being too high speed he moved on to SFAS, he proved himself worthy and was selected. Passing Q-Course, 18-E School House, Robin Sage, BLMC, and SERE. Jared proved that he earned a spot on the teams. He was assigned to 7th group out of Eglin AFB in Florida. He has a total of five deployments under his belt, 2 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan, and 2 in South America.

An Epic night of leadership as Red recalls.

On 13 November 2013 Jared Bullock went on patrol with his team, he was on his ATV/Side by Side when he ran over a pressure plated IED (Improvised Explosive Device) any vehicle that rolls over an IED its not good news. When on an ATV with zero protection it is even worse.

The "ATV" he was driving. He loved it, but he always wanted one in red....

Red (as he is referred to by his friends) suffered dual limb amputations; Right Leg and Right arm, broken back/hip, broken ribs, broken jaw, broken hand, and massive shrapnel to his left leg. Thankfully the team’s 18D (Medic) was able to get the situation under control so he does not remember a lot of the event. After six weeks in the hospital, and a year of rehabilitation, Jared was ready to let the world know he was back!

Just ten months after the injury, Jared ran the tough mudder West Virginia. Red, is a beast motivator. His social media is a series of pictures of adaptive lifting techniques are as motivating as they come. For a man that has overcome a lot, to get up every day, get his leg, his wife and go out to his home gym and use his series of adaptive techniques makes you realize that you can wake up and be a better person. I mention his wife because she is a nurse, and she took to caring for him as a serious personal mission. She handled all of his baths, his medications, his activities of daily living until Jared could get back on his own “foot” and she is still there to fill in the void. You will see here in nearly every other post/Lifting videos of Red’s because as he says “she is literally my right hand woman”

When We Asked Red Why? His answer was as follows…

“The videos and writing to me help showcase what is still possible if you're willing to put in the time and effort. Too many injured individuals feel helpless and lose their health. So if I can showcase something they haven't seen or tried before. Hopefully it sparks a fire inside them.

For a Parting Message to a followers…

I have been in the same shoes as a lot of injured veterans i.e. loss of career, goals, health issues, among others. One thing I've noticed among guys in rehab during my time there, is that the fighting spirit they use to have is gone, but I don't feel that it is. Sure things have changed and in no way, by a small means, however; you have to embrace this new life as a challenge and get out and continue to go after it. That is what serving in the military was. It was a constant challenge. Not one to break you, but to mold and prepare you for the future. Maybe you can't do the things you love as well or if at all, but who says that you can't find something else new or reinvent a method or approach to adapting to your favorite hobby.

You have to remember that only you are truly the limiting factor in not being able to accomplish your goals. If you come to understand this, and learn to overcome it then your chances of success will be grow exponentially. You may fall or fail several times. Trust me I know, but WE ARE were of the nations finest that answered the call, and there is no reason that you can't still be! Just now in another life. Life is going to throw you obstacles. Its how you tackle those obstacles that defines you.” Jared Bullock on why he does what he does and a little piece of advice for those out there struggling.
