About Global Recon

Global Recon is an independent publication focused on national security, defense, and geopolitics through the lens of open-source intelligence.

Open-source intelligence, or OSINT, is the collection and analysis of publicly available information to understand real-world events, networks, and state activity. That includes commercially available satellite imagery, shipping and trade data, corporate registries, government filings, court records, and other public records.

Global Recon uses these sources to produce original reporting and analysis grounded in verifiable evidence. The aim is to show not just what happened, but how it can be seen, traced, and understood through the open record.

Every article is researched, written, and published by John Hendricks. Previously, he built contributor networks and directed OSINT-based reporting across national security beats, and hosted a global security podcast featuring former U.S. intelligence and special operations professionals that reached millions of listeners.
